American History Animations

Oxford University Press (OUP) approached us to create a series of engaging online animations to promote the new publication of the American National Biography. Looking for a fun, vibrant approach to captivate an online audience, OUP wanted to bring American history to life in a way that would inspire curiosity and joy.

Our challenge was to craft a short animation that would spark the viewer’s imagination and encourage further exploration. After exploring various styles, we chose a digitally animated “scribe” technique, which offered simplicity and precise control over each visual element.

The project was a true collaboration across the Ludic Media Studio team—scriptwriters, visual artists, and editors all brought their expertise to shape the story. Following client sign-off, the final animation was launched and quickly reached a global audience, generating widespread enthusiasm and helping OUP connect with history lovers everywhere. To date, the series of videos has over 65,000 views.
